Virtually invisible, comfortable and effective, Invisalign is one of the most popular teeth straightening options available. It allows you to achieve straighter teeth in a discreet way, without the need for traditional metal braces, giving you the confidence to smile again!.
Invisalign is extremely easy to use, with custom-made clear aligners gradually moving the positions of your teeth. It is designed with comfort in mind, fitting seamlessly into your everyday life. No-one needs to know you are on a journey to straighter teeth!
Invisalign’s clear aligners are able to be removed, meaning you can eat and drink what you like and keep up with your regular brushing and flossing routine as normal. They can even be taken out for a few hours for special events and just popped back in afterwards.
Invisalign removes the need for metal brackets and wires which could irritate the skin. It is designed with patient comfort at the forefront, using accurate and precise digital scans to ensure a secure, comfortable fit.
Invisalign gradually moves your teeth using small amounts of force and a series of custom-made mouth trays, making it highly effective. It can be used for a variety of issues, including gaps, overcrowding and misalignment.
Initially, we examine your teeth and take precise digital scans and images, using the latest 3D technology. We will create a bespoke treatment plan, based on the current positions of your teeth and your desired results.
Once your custom-made clear aligners have been created, we ensure they are a perfect fit in your mouth, checking they feel comfortable. We will advise you on how best to look after your aligners and how they should be worn.
We will replace your aligner every two weeks to ensure treatment stays on track. Once your Invisalign treatment is complete, we will give you a retainer to ensure lasting results and keep your teeth in their new positions. All that’s left to do is to show off your new, beautifully straight smile!
At Dartford Road Dental, we believe that quality dental care should be affordable to as many patients as possible. That is why we have options available to help spread the cost.

Find out moreInvisalign aligners only work while they are being worn, so we recommend they are worn for a minimum of 20-22 hours per day. As a gradual treatment, each new aligner is worn for approximately two weeks until you reach your desired final outcome.
The length of the treatment varies depending on each case, but most are completed in 9-18 months.
Invisalign is a teeth-straightening treatment that has become increasingly more popular over the alternative metal braces, especially in adults.
It is a practically invisible way to straighten your teeth using cutting edge 3D imaging technology to take the current and final (desired) straighter position of your teeth and maps out a treatment plan that will align your teeth over time. The aligners are made from strong medical grade thermoplastic material, which has been uniquely developed for the Invisalign system. Every few weeks you will have new clear aligners to wear that will bring you closer to the perfect straight smile!
Misaligned teeth can not only make oral hygiene more difficult but can drastically affect your confidence. Invisalign is seen as aesthetically pleasing and is a great choice for people who are self-conscious about wearing metal braces.
Appearance – Traditional braces are noticeable, and some people consider them unattractive, whereas Invisalign braces are meant to be practically invisible, without knowledge most people wouldn’t even know you are undergoing treatment!
Comfort – Invisalign braces can easily be taken out for a period of time, to eat and drink, unlike metal braces that will only be professionally removed once the treatment is over.
Safety – Traditional braces may scratch or catch at the insides on the mouth and gums, whereas clear aligners smooth and perfectly fitted to the teeth to avoid any rubbing. Metal braces can also affect demineralisation and tooth decay which doesn’t occur in aligners.
Time – Traditional braces can sometimes be in place for 3-5 years, however Invisalign often only take 1-2 years to complete.
Treatment length varies from case to case, but most Invisalign treatments are completed within 9-18 months. Uncomplicated cases have a faster treatment time, whilst patients needing more complex straightening should expect to wear their aligners for longer. Once you have had your initial consultation, we will be able to advise you of your expected treatment time.
It’s very common to have an adjusting period every time you change up your aligners. This can cause a slight lisp for a day or so. You may also feel a slight pressure whilst the aligner is shifting your teeth, this can cause a headache, neckache, earache or jaw pain but can be resolved with some painkillers.
You need to wear your aligners for around 22 hours a day in order for your treatment to be most effective. You can take them out for eating, drinking, brushing your teeth and playing contact sports.
Yes, Invisalign aligners have been designed with comfort in mind, enabling you to easily wear them for the required 22 hours a day. They fit snugly over the teeth and have no metal brackets or wires to irritate the skin or gums.
It is advised that you mainly drink water whilst wearing your aligners as darker liquids like red wine and coffee can causing staining. It is also advised to remove your aligners before eating anything or chewing gum, the aligners are durable, but you wouldn’t want to risk breaking them! With this in mind, make sure you brush your teeth after eating, before putting your aligners back in. Bacteria and plaque form on your teeth quickly after a meal – so getting rid of them right away will keep both your teeth and aligners clean.
Invisalign can be used to treat a multitude of orthodontic problems, including most cases of misalignment. However, Invisalign does have its limitations and there are some extreme cases that would mean Invisalign may not be an option for you. Your dentist will be able to give you all your options at your consultation.
If you lose one of your aligners, please contact us as soon as possible for further advice. In the meantime, you can wear an aligner from your previous set to prevent your teeth from moving too far out of line. We may also advise that you move straight onto your next set of aligners, depending on your individual case.
The cost of treatment depends on each individual case, with complex cases needing more aligners and therefore are more expensive. We can give you an exact treatment cost based on the examination and assessment we carry out during your initial consultation. Your own medical insurance plans may cover some of the Invisalign treatment cost, but you would need to speak with your policy provider directly regarding this.
We do also offer payment plans and finance options to help you spread the cost of treatment.
The best way to take care of your aligners is to make sure you clean them often. You can do this by brushing and rinsing them in lukewarm water and using the Invisalign Cleaning Crystals or other special cleaning tablets. It’s very important that you brush your teeth after every meal or snack before re-inserting your aligners to maintain good oral hygiene.
You will need to have regular check-ins with your dentist throughout your treatment just to ensure everything is going to plan. These visits will usually occur once every 4-6 weeks depending on your case.
