It is vital for dental implants to be surrounded by solid bone in order to work properly. If you have lost back teeth in your upper jaw, or had them removed, you may require a sinus lift procedure before implant treatment can begin.
Your sinuses are empty air-filled spaces found either side of your nose, which can enlarge following the removal of your upper back teeth, causing bone loss to occur. We can surgically replace this bone during a sinus lift, ensuring it is strong and healthy enough for your implant treatment.
The sinus lift procedure is performed by a trained specialist dentist, and involves lifting the sinus membrane to make room for the replacement bone. It is a relatively short surgery and we ensure you are comfortable and pain-free during the process. You may feel some discomfort following surgery but this will be short-lived.
Once you have healed and the replacement bone has successfully merged with your existing bone, your implants will be placed.
